Organize an Event

Illini Fighting Hunger
is a facilitating organization: we have the equipment and expertise to help you organize an incredible volunteer experience to help make a tangible impact on food insecurity in your area. In partnering together, we take care of most of the details so you can focus on fundraising and recruiting volunteers for an exciting meal packaging project.

It’s okay if you’re not sure when, how big, or whether you’re 100% committed yet – just get in touch with us and we’ll talk through your ideas, answer any questions, and discuss the best way to move forward!

LET’S ORGANIZE MY EVENT!

Please note: hosting a meal packaging project carries a financial requirement – you must fund the cost of the supplies for your event. Please take a look at our project menu for some examples of project sizes and costs. Most meal packaging organizations charge $0.25-$0.30 per serving packaged, but Illini Fighting Hunger is able to facilitate projects for $0.11-$0.13 thanks to our dedicated student Leadership Team and our Champaign-Urbana partners.

In addition to our Family Rice Casserole meal, we also offer single-ingredient options which are great for smaller groups without a large budget. We are typically unable to create “free projects” for groups, and we apologize for this inconvenience. However, we invite you to contact us if you would like to discuss the possibility of partnering for a “free” event.

What do I need to know about organizing an event?
We’ve anticipated some of your questions and are happy to provide our Community Partner Handbook to help you find answers to some of the more common questions that pop up.
